Few activities are as inexpensive, group or individually oriented and can involve as many different people as Coloring Therapy and Mandala coloring.

Coloring Therapy uses the activity of coloring as a wholesome self help, self discovery and therapeutic modality, best used as you, the therapist, counsellor or teacher sees fit.

While coloring (with felt tipped markers, colored pens, pencils, etc) a state of consciousness similar to meditation occurs. This by no means detracts from the fun of coloring, but actually enhances the biology, mind and emotions of the participants.

Why Coloring and What’s the Therapy?

Mandala Coloring is pretty straight forward and just about anyone can do it. It’s non-competitive, multicultural, share-oriented and it works in every language. It has a wide range of application from Art, Recreational and Color Therapy to eye-hand coordination development and psychiatry for trauma, anxiety and acute shyness, just to name a few.

Of course, it’s also wholesome fun, but for those of us who have a lot of responsibilities, professional or otherwise, Mandala coloring can also be time away from stress and the nagging demands of our own inner dialogue.

Clients or students can gain conscious exposure to the workings of inner dialogue and its suspension; bringing powerful opportunities to self enhance, reprogram or manage the inner dialogue to be better suited to their highest needs and interests.

Mandala Coloring and Me

Between 1994 and 1996, while studying coloring and the possible benefits coloring might bring those people undergoing convalescence and recovery, I also began to notice the colorists gently enter into a light trance every time they colored. This proved very beneficial and was easily attained by all the participants, young and old alike.

In 1997, I commissioned artists to create international Mandalas for adult coloring and launched Coloring Therapy as a self help, self discovery modality with obvious connections to many other therapeutic applications

Mandala coloring and Coloring Therapy go hand in hand. Whether you’re interested in some wholesome fun or the self discovering influence coloring brings, you’re sure to enjoy Mandala coloring as friends and neighbors have since 1997!
